About Lumenfall: Path of Light

The game is a top-down maze puzzle in which you guide a glowing beam of light through branching labyrinths toward a green exit portal. The beam automatically travels through straight corridors and stops at junctions or dead ends, where you choose its next direction. Golden LUMEN orbs can be collected for additional points while you race against the level's time limit.

Lumenfall: Path of Light is a top-down maze puzzle built around a simple but distinctive mechanic: you guide a glowing beam through a labyrinth while it automatically travels along straight corridors. Whenever the beam reaches a junction or dead end, you select its next available direction using WASD, the arrow keys, or the on-screen directional buttons.

The goal is to reach the green exit portal before the light runs out of time. Golden LUMEN orbs are placed throughout the maze and award 150 points each, giving you a reason to explore routes beyond the most direct path. Completing a level also awards a base score and a time bonus, with faster runs earning better star ratings.

The game contains 10 progressively larger levels, with later stages introducing more branching paths, VOID pits, and darker maze layouts. Levels can be restarted, paused, or replayed, while completed progress and cumulative score are stored locally.

How to Play

  1. Start from the main menu by selecting PLAY. If progress has already been saved, CONTINUE is also available.
  2. The glowing light begins at the blue start portal inside the maze.
  3. The beam automatically travels through two-way corridors.
  4. When it reaches a junction or dead end, the game pauses the beam and presents the available directions.
  5. Choose an available direction using the keyboard or on-screen directional buttons.
  6. Collect golden LUMEN orbs as the beam travels through the maze. Each collected orb awards 150 points.
  7. Avoid dark VOID pits. They are impassable and cannot be crossed by the beam.
  8. Reach the glowing green EXIT portal to complete the level. Collecting every orb is optional; reaching the exit is the actual completion condition.
  9. Complete levels to unlock the next stage. Later levels use larger mazes, more branching paths, additional voids, and darker layouts.
  10. If the beam exceeds approximately 2.2× the level's par time, the run ends with GAME OVER and can be retried.

Objective

Guide the glowing beam from the blue starting point through each maze and reach the green EXIT portal. LUMEN orbs are secondary collectibles that increase the score but are not required to reach the exit.

Winning & Losing Conditions

Winning Condition

A level is completed when the glowing beam reaches the green exit portal.

Completing a level unlocks the next level. Finishing the tenth and final level completes the overall game.

Losing Condition

The player gets GAME OVER when the level timer exceeds approximately 2.2 times the level's par time while the beam has not reached the exit.

VOID pits and walls block movement rather than directly triggering a separate failure state.

Tips & Strategies

  1. Only choose from highlighted directions. The beam stops at decision cells, and the direction indicator shows which paths are actually available.
  2. Use the automatic corridors to plan ahead. Once a direction is selected, the beam continues through connected two-way corridors until another decision point.
  3. Treat LUMEN collection as a scoring choice. Orbs provide 150 points each, but reaching the exit does not require collecting every orb.
  4. Watch the timer when collecting distant orbs. The game awards a larger time bonus for finishing below par, while exceeding the overall time limit causes GAME OVER.
  5. Be especially careful in VOID-heavy levels. VOID cells cannot be traversed, so use the visible corridor network to determine the valid route around them.
  6. Aim for speed when pursuing three stars. A completion time at or below the level's par time awards 3 stars; slower completions receive fewer stars.
