About Chroma Sort

Chroma Sort is a color-sorting puzzle game built around arranging colored bubbles inside tubes. Select or drag bubbles between tubes, placing them only into empty tubes or onto matching colors. Complete each puzzle by arranging every occupied tube so that it contains a single color.

The primary objective is to sort all colored bubbles into tubes containing only one color, with each completed tube filled to its four-bubble capacity. Players must use the available empty space and legal color-matching moves to reach a completely sorted board.

Chroma Sort is a tube-based color sorting puzzle where each level presents a mixed arrangement of colored bubbles that must be reorganized into matching groups. Each tube holds up to four bubbles, and a move can transfer the top matching group from one tube into an empty tube or onto a tube whose top bubble has the same color.

To play, tap a tube to select it and then tap another tube as the destination. You can also drag a bubble directly between tubes. Invalid destinations cannot receive the move, so planning the order of transfers is important. Every successful move increases the move counter and adds 10 points to the score.

The game begins with a small number of colors and gradually introduces more colors and fewer empty tubes as the level number increases. Completed levels award a completion bonus, with an additional efficiency bonus based on the number of moves used. Your progress, score, best score, and completed levels are saved locally, allowing you to use the browser puzzle games category to explore similar gameplay.

Chroma Sort also provides Undo, Reset, Pause, sound and music settings, and a fullscreen option on supported small-screen layouts. Players looking for other logic-focused challenges can also explore strategy games.

How to Play

  1. Start a new game with Play, or use Continue when a saved game is available.
  2. Choose a tube containing bubbles.
  3. Tap another tube to move the top matching group, or drag the bubble directly to a destination tube.
  4. A destination must either be empty or have the same color on top, and it cannot already be full.
  5. Continue transferring bubbles until every occupied tube contains one color and is completely filled.
  6. Use Undo to reverse previous moves when available, or Reset to restore the current level to its starting arrangement.
  7. If the board reaches a state with no legal moves, the game displays No More Moves and offers Try Again.
  8. When the board is completely sorted, the level is completed and the next level becomes available.

Winning & Losing Conditions

Winning Condition

A level is won when every occupied tube is filled to capacity with bubbles of a single color.

Losing Condition

The level fails when there are no legal moves remaining before the board is solved. The game displays No More Moves and allows the player to retry the level.

Tips & Strategies

  1. Protect your empty tubes. Empty tubes provide the space needed to separate colors and create useful transfer routes, so avoid filling both without a clear follow-up plan.
  2. Build matching stacks deliberately. A move can transfer multiple consecutive bubbles of the same color, making it useful to expose and consolidate matching groups.
  3. Check the destination before moving. A tube can only accept a bubble when it is empty or its top bubble matches the moving color, and it must have available capacity.
  4. Use Undo for inefficient moves. Since each move adds 10 points and the level-completion bonus includes an efficiency component, reversing an unnecessary move can help preserve a better solution.
  5. Plan several transfers ahead on harder levels. Later levels introduce more colors and eventually reduce the number of empty tubes, leaving less temporary storage space.
  6. Reset when the position is unsalvageable. If the board reaches the game's no-moves state, Reset restores the original arrangement for that level.
