Merge Cakes is a bakery-themed merge puzzle where you combine identical cakes to discover higher-tier desserts. Spawn Tier 1 cookies onto the bakery board, drag matching cakes together to merge them, and build a collection of increasingly valuable recipes while earning coins passively from cakes on the board.

The primary objective is to merge identical cakes into higher tiers and progress through the recipe chain up to the Tier 10 Masterpiece.

Secondary goals include earning coins from passive cake income, increasing the bakery level through XP gained from merges, unlocking recipes, purchasing upgrades, expanding the available board slots, and completing achievements.

Merge Cakes combines drag-and-drop merging with an incremental bakery progression system. The game starts with two Tier 1 Cookies on a 4×4 board, with only 12 spaces initially available for cakes. Use the Spawn Box button to add another Tier 1 Cookie to an available space, then drag one cake onto an identical cake to merge them into the next tier. If you move a cake onto an empty space, it simply changes position; dropping different cake tiers onto each other swaps their positions.

Each successful merge grants XP and can unlock the next recipe. Cakes also generate coins automatically every second according to their tier, giving higher-tier desserts greater passive income. You can spend coins in the bakery games category or use the in-game Shop to purchase Tier 1 and Tier 2 cakes directly.

The Upgrades menu contains improvements for the box timer, passive income, and board capacity. The Recipe Book tracks discovered desserts, while Achievements provide additional coin rewards. If you enjoy combining objects and building higher-value items, merge puzzle games offer similar gameplay concepts.

The game also includes a sound toggle, progress tracking, and a reset option in Settings. For other casual browser challenges, explore puzzle games or clicker games.

How to Play

1. Start the bakery: The game opens with two Tier 1 Cookies already placed on the board.
2. Spawn cakes: Select Spawn Box to place another Tier 1 Cookie in an available board slot. The button has a cooldown after spawning.
3. Move cakes: Drag a cake and drop it onto an empty slot to reposition it.
4. Merge matching cakes: Drag one cake onto another cake of the same tier. The two cakes combine into the next tier.
5. Manage different cakes: Dropping a cake onto a different-tier cake swaps their positions rather than merging them.
6. Earn XP: Successful merges award XP based on the tier being merged. Filling the XP requirement increases your Baker level.
7. Earn coins: Cakes remaining on the board generate passive coins every second according to their tier.
8. Use the Shop and Upgrades: Spend coins on direct cake purchases, faster box timers, increased passive income, and additional board slots.
9. Progress the recipe collection: Merging into a new tier unlocks its recipe in the Recipe Book.
10. Avoid filling the board: When all currently available spaces are occupied, new cakes cannot be spawned until you make room by moving or merging cakes.
11. Continue progressing: The highest defined cake is Tier 10, called Masterpiece.

There is no conventional game-over screen or traditional losing state verified in the game code.

Winning Condition

There is no separate traditional win screen or end-of-game victory condition verified. Progress is based on merging cakes through the tier system, with Tier 10 Masterpiece being the highest defined cake tier.

Losing Condition

There is no traditional losing condition or game-over state verified. The practical board-management failure state is having all currently unlocked spaces occupied, which prevents spawning another cake until space is cleared.

Tips & Strategies

1. Merge matching tiers whenever possible. Combining two identical cakes is the primary way to create higher-value desserts and earn XP.
2. Keep empty spaces available. The board can become blocked, preventing the Spawn Box from adding another cake.
3. Use empty slots for organization. Moving cakes onto empty spaces lets you arrange matching tiers so future merges are easier to execute.
4. Use the Shop when useful. Direct Tier 1 and Tier 2 purchases can help create pairs without relying exclusively on the random board placement from the Spawn Box.
5. Prioritize income upgrades once passive earnings become important. Baker's Pride increases passive coin generation by 20% per upgrade level.
6. Expand capacity before the board becomes restrictive. The Expand Bakery Plate upgrade unlocks additional board spaces, with two upgrade levels available.
